The Legal Stuff…
I do just need to mention the legal bits and pieces here. For any marriage to be recognised in law in England & Wales, a legally binding ceremony, known as a ‘registration of marriage’, MUST take place. This is normally at a Register Office. The same applies to a civil partnership. This service is usually no more than 20 minutes. The official legal wording of this is sometimes less than 50 words.
Register Office ceremonies can also be without ring exchange or vows if that’s what you decide. Once you’ve booked your Register Office, then you have the freedom to choose any venue to hold your main celebration with the support of a celebrant.
In rough terms the total cost of a register office wedding is £130.00. This includes notices, room hire and marriage certificate.
